Serial podcast

Serial is een onderzoeksjournalistieke podcast gepresenteerd door Sarah Koenig, die een waargebeurd verhaal vertelt, verspreid over meerdere afleveringen. In het eerste seizoen onderzoekt ze de moord op Hae Min Lee, een 18-jarige student aan de Woodlawn High School in het Baltimore County. Seizoen 2 richtte zich op Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl, een Amerikaanse leger soldaat die vijf jaar lang door de Taliban werd vastgehouden en vervolgens beschuldigd werd van desertie. In seizoen 3 onderzoekt Sarah de perikelen rond het Justice Center Complex in het Cleveland-gebied.


"Serial" stond zelfs vóór de release op nummer één op iTunes en bleef daar meerdere weken staan. De podcast won in april 2015 een Peabody Award vanwege zijn innovatieve vertelling van een langdurig waargebeurd verhaal. Tot september 2018 zijn afleveringen van seizoenen 1 en 2 meer dan 340 miljoen keer gedownload: een wereldrecord voor podcasts.
