'Being on stage is about communication' Ole Rasmus has been educated at various drama schools in both London and Copenhagen. In addition to this, Ole Rasmus graduated as an authorised singing teacher from Complete Vocal Institute in 2008. Ole Rasmus' CV shows that he has worn many hats; he has performed in musical theatres, plays, cabarets and various shows. Ole Rasmus has also worked as a vocalist in numerous vocal groups and as a session singer. In this podcast we talk about the following things: - Where it all started, listening to the parents' record collection and singing before even starting to talk - Listening to vocal groups like the Mills brothers and Swe Danes (scandinvian group) and analyzing the harmonies - Singing in a vocal trio that is currently celebrating their 40 years' (!) anniversary, singing rock classics rearranged in 3 part harmonies and doing them in a different way - Falling in love with the combination of singing and acting while performing in the musical 'Oliver' - After taking an acting training for 2 years abroad, starring in a lot of musicals, like Godspell, Hair, Annie get your gun, Les Miserables etc. Lots of shows, for 20 - 30 years - Feeling that there was 'missing information' in how actors were instructed and directed in musicals - Taking a bachelor in theater science and training at the Complete Vocal Institute, becoming an Authorized Complete Vocal Technique teacher - Coaching singers who want to dig more into 'how to perform a song' - Acting technique by the great actor Stanislavsky, a way of asking questions that makes it more personal to perform a song - Singers should know not only what they are singing about but also tho whom they are singing, what they are communicating about and what they want to pass on to the audience - The importance of choosing a receiver to focus on while singing, so we forget about ourselves - How technical knowledge about singing is brilliant, but can also stand in the way of spontaneity in singing - When it comes to singing, there isn't a 'one size fits all' approach' we are all different and have different needs - Finding your own expression is so important and could be like a life long journey - A practical approach to start working on interpretation with a singer, what questions can you ask yourself?
