What can a potato tell us about ourselves? What does it say about the construction of national identity? What role can new narratives about the potato play in creating expanded social imaginaries? How can trans-local stories and food cultures be connected through the roots and routes of the potato? And how might those connections offer us a road that leads to addressing forgotten colonial legacies and a wider context of political, social, and emotional relationships? In this podcast Ana host different voices, offering a range of perspectives and sources around the potato, to build a polyphonic tale that contributes to the development of a new social memory about it. A multilayered trans-local story that drives us in the complex process of how we construct, and understand ourselves individually and as a collective based on the stories we tell each other. Stories that are the ingredients in recipes of knowledge, operating as a vehicle to find ourselves face to face with those political, social, and emotional relationships rooted in history, that persist today and condition our imaginaries. Hoe kunnen trans-lokale verhalen en eetculturen met elkaar verbonden worden door de wortels van, en routes die aardappels afleggen? En, hoe kunnen die verbintenissen fungeren als een weg die ons wijst op een vergeten koloniaal verleden, en een bredere context van politieke, sociale, en emotionele relaties? In deze podcast presenteert Ana verschillende stemmen, ieder met andere perspectieven en bronnen over de aardappel. Samen vormen zij een polyfoon verhaal dat bijdraagt aan de ontwikkeling van een nieuwe social herinnering aan de aardappel. Een gelaagd, trans-lokaal verhaal dat ons stuurt in het complexe proces van het opbouwen en begrijpen van onszelf, als individu en als onderdeel van een collectief, op basis van de verhalen die we elkaar vertellen. Deze verhalen zijn als de ingrediënten in recepten van kennis, en opereren als een voertuig waarmee we ons zelf kunnen confronteren met deze politieke, sociale en emotionele relaties geworteld in geschiedenis, die vandaag de dag onze verbeeldingskracht beïnvloeden.
