He also previews her upcoming book, “Waves of Innovation: From Cloud Native to AI Native”, which examines how companies mature through cloud-native transformations—and how the next wave of AI-native thinking is beginning to unfold. Like with cloud-native, many companies are jumping in too fast, making the same mistakes, or misunderstanding what true transformation requires. We discuss whether organizations can skip cloud-native altogether and go straight to AI-native, how software development is changing (but not disappearing), and how generative AI lowers the barrier to custom software—especially for smaller businesses. Pini also makes a bold prediction: Kubernetes might not be the best foundation for AI workloads in the long term. A new kind of platform may be on the horizon.
